Abstract

Plasma cell leukemia (PCL) is a rare and aggressive variant of multiple myeloma with poor prognosis. The exact incidence of plasma cell leukemia is believed to be less than 1 case per million. Among these, primary non-secretory PCL is very rare with only a few reported cases. Here we report a case of primary non-secretory plasma cell leukemia in a 52 years old female presenting with hemorrhagic pleural effusion. Non-secretory PCL presenting with pleural effusion is very uncommon. Peripheral blood picture, bone marrow examination, serum protein electrophoresis, serum immunofixation electrophoresis and flowcytometry confirmed the diagnosis. This case is being reported for its extreme rarity unusual clinical presentation
