Abstract

To support the novel, controlled release dosage forms and for their assessment increasingly accepted imaging technologies are available to give proof for their in vivo release. The imaging technologies are X-rays, magneticresonance imaging and ultra sound, gamma scintigraphy.These are the tools for the assessment of oral, pulmonary, and ophthalmic dosage forms. In this review mainly focus on gamma scintigraphy. Thisas a tool for the assessment of formulation deposition [1]. Formulation development success depends on variables that affect the performance of a drug delivery system. Gamma scintigraphy is a non-invasive methodwith development of drug products and the assessment of pharmacodynamics effects in humans.From this method we can able to understand critical performance parameters   gastrointestinal transit; gall bladder emptying; lung mucociliary clearance provides insights into the mode of action of drug candidates [2].In this review focus on the functional terms of gamma scintigraphy and their applications in pharmacy [3].
